Junior Tennis Starts September 11th
Patrick attended Bridgewater College (VA), graduating in 1988. While there, he played number one singles and doubles. After graduation, he continued to play competitively in Mid-Atlantic tournaments, ranked #2 in MATA Mens 30 singles 1996; ranked #1 MATA Mens 40 singles 2008. For the past few years, he has played in USTA 9.0 Mixed Doubles’ League with wife Joan.
Joan attended American University in Washington, D.C., where she played tennis and volleyball. After graduation, Joan set her racquet down and began a time-consuming career on Capitol Hill. In 1995, Joan went back to playing and began coaching tennis and volleyball at the high school level (Foxcroft School and Broad Run High School) in addition to coaching travel volleyball. After an injury that affected her eyesight, Joan turned to personal training. For the past ten years, Joan has been teaching tennis part-time with an emphasis on court fitness to help players maximize the skills during match-play. In the past few years, Joan has played on several USTA teams at the 4.0 and 4.5 level and mixed doubles with her husband Patrick at the 9.0 level.
